The Lifeguarding Course provides entry-level lifeguard candidates with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until Emergency Medical Services personnel take over. The course combines eLearning with on-site skills sessions. Minimum age to participate is 15 by the course conclusion. Participants must be registered with a personal email and phone number to receive course information and instructions to access the pre-course eLearning program. eLearning program takes approximately 7 hours and must be completed before the first class. Participants are required to successfully complete a pre-requisite water skills evaluation one week in advance of the program (300-yard swim, hands-free treading water and deep-water surface dive to retrieve and swim with a weighted object). Participants are required to present a photo ID/proof of age. Successful completion will result in a Red Cross Lifeguarding/CPR/AED/First Aid certification, valid for 2 years.
