This program is ideal for swimmers interested in developing competitive-level skills while enjoying a team-like experience without the pressure of formal competition. Swimmers will focus on building endurance, refining stroke techniques, and improving overall performance through structured drills, multiple laps, and on-deck coaching. Swim Squad helps swimmers gain the confidence, discipline, and fitness needed to prepare for future swim team participation or to continue swimming as a lifelong activity.
Required before entering this stage: To ensure safety and proper placement, participants should be able to demonstrate the following skills:
Endurance: swim 150 yards using a combination of strokes
Front crawl 50 yards with a flip turn
Back crawl 50 yards with a flip turn
Resting stroke (elementary backstroke or sidestroke) 50 yards
Retrieve an object from the bottom of the pool and tread water for 1 minute
Breaststroke 50 yards with an open turn
Butterfly 25 yards
Swimmers may advance to this level by successfully completing Youth Stage 6 or by passing a swim evaluation. For safety reasons, if a swimmer does not meet the skill requirements for this class, instructors reserve the right to place them in the appropriate level to best support their learning and confidence in the water
